In February of 2019, the Tally 100% Together Coalition helped to pass a city resolution, committing Tallahassee to 100% renewable energy by 2050. We are now focused on helping the city make the transition to renewable energy, efficiently and seamlessly. We are also committed to holding city officials accountable and making sure that we stay on track to reach 100% renewable energy on schedule. You can help by signing your business or organization onto the Tally 100% Together Coalition and working with the city to achieve this vital energy goal. If you are interested in joining the coalition, please reach out to jackson@rethinkenergyflorida.org.

Action Alert:
Despite a lack of public comment, the county and city have been moving forward with a Comp Plan amendment that will support the Welaunee Development on the east side of town. Tally 100% Together came to consensus at our last meeting to oppose these amendments for three reasons:
- Public Participation has been curtailed due to COVID-19, and an adequate online public comment period has not been designed.
- As a coalition, we are focused on reducing the greenhouse gas emissions of the city and county to slow the effects of the climate crisis. The City committed last year to 100% Renewable Energy as soon as possible, but no later than 2050, and is close to completing it’s contract with the consultant that will develop the Clean Energy Plan. This Clean Energy Plan will likely include requirements for energy efficiency and renewable energy capabilities of all new construction. Without adequate requirements addressed within the amendments, as is required by Blueprint Language, they will not guarantee that the new development will include the necessary changes that the Clean Energy Plan would require.
- Additionally, there is not an adequate plan for providing alternative forms of transportation other than personal vehicles.
There is no need to rush to approve this development without taking the time to include the entire community to ensure any and all development is done sustainably, ethically, and thoughtfully.
