Have fun at Energy Camp!
Energy Camp is our largest annual children’s outreach program led by our team of interns and volunteers that is geared towards children grades 3-6. With a curriculum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) this camp emphasizes a broad understanding of environmental issues related to energy with topics that include agriculture, urban planning, water quality and the impact of waste. This camp is exceptionally interactive and allows children to combine STEM and their creativity as they learn to make solar ovens, fix bikes and construct landfill liners. Campers also get important information and resources from interactive presentations that guest speakers put on. Field trips are also a highlight of the camp and have included campers visiting urban farms, wastewater treatment plants and local parks. This camp is an excellent way for children to explore the impact of fossil fuel usage and the importance of understanding the options renewable energy offers. At Energy Camp, youth are given the space and encouragement to apply the information they learn to develop fundamental skills needed for them to solve energy issues and reduce their environmental impact.Â
