Urge your Lawmakers to Oppose a Package of Bad Energy Bills We’re setting up this second day of action in anticipation of one or more of the Bad Energy Preemption Bills being before the Rules committee. It is extremely likely SB 1128 – Preemption on Restriction of Utility Services, by Sen. Travis Hutson, will be up in the Rules committee. This bill will strip any decision making authority from customers and local governments directly to the utilities and prevent municipalities from moving away from outdated, gas-powered building codes to modern, clean-energy building codes. The legislation would effectively make any commitment to 100% clean energy impossible. This day of action will be Tuesday, April 13th anytime between 9am EDT and 6pm EDT – take action with calls, emails, and social media blasts to stop these bills! Check back here on the Day of Action for phone calls and actions to take. ACTION: Good morning everyone! We learned yesterday that the house companions are on the Commerce Committee Agenda, so the first action of the day is to call the following committee members (listed in order of priority) to ask them to vote NO on the bad energy preemption bills: HB 919 and HB 839. These bills will take away local governments ability to choose clean energy: Rep Chris Latvala (850) 717-5067 Rep David Silvers (850) 717-5087 Rep Dan Daley (850) 717-5097 Rep Matt Willhite (850) 717-5086 Rep Webster Barnaby (850) 717-5027 Rep Nick DiCeglie (850) 717-5066 Rep Rene Plasencia (850) 717-5050 Rep Anika Tene Omphroy (850) 717-5095 Rep Kamia L. Brown (850) 717-5045 |
