Need Plans for your bundle of joy for the summer? Think Energy Camp.
Join us for our Energy Camp, our largest annual children’s outreach program led by a dedicated team of interns and volunteers. The camp, tailored for children in grades 3-6, focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. It’s designed to be highly interactive, blending STEM learning with creative activities. Campers will have the opportunity to build solar ovens, fix bicycles, and construct landfill liners, combining practical skills with their imaginative minds.
Energy Camp 1, the first week of camp, goes from from June 17-21.
This lively summer camp will educate children on the impacts of fossil fuel use, explore renewable energy alternatives, and impart essential skills to help reduce our environmental impact. Open to rising 3rd through 6th graders, with Junior Counselor positions available for older students.
Camp Activities:
Hands-on Experiments: These include learning about climate change, solar bugs, alternative transport, food growth, waste impact, and renewable energy discovery.
Urban Planning with Legos: Through this activity, campers learn about urban planning by building their ideal city with legos.
Fixing Bikes:This hands-on activity teaches basic mechanical skills and promotes alternative transportation.
Field Trips: Visits to urban farms, wastewater treatment plants, and local parks offer practical insights into sustainability practices.
Making Solar Ovens: Campers learn to build solar ovens, applying principles of renewable energy to cook food.
Guest Speakers: Experts share knowledge on various environmental topics, enhancing the learning experience
