The Regional Energy Whiz Expo provides hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. This is a fun competition for students in Leon County and surrounding areas. It is geared towards 3rd-8th graders. The Regional Energy Whiz Expo consists of two events: the Solar Sprint and the Solar Cook-Off.
-
In the Solar Sprint, teams design and build solar-powered race cars.
-
The Solar Cook-Off is a two-part competition. First, teams design a fully solar-powered cooker. Second, they make a dish using the same cooker.
The winning team from each event will have the opportunity to compete in the state-wide Energy Whiz Expo. The state-wide event is open to students in the 4th through 8th grades.
