New date for Energy Ball
The 2023 Energy Ball has a new date: November 9, 2023.
Although the change was made due to unforeseen family illness, the later date will also allow us to enjoy Tallahassee’s beautiful fall weather. Only the date is new. Clever Girl will still perform and Leon County Commissioner for District 3 Rick Minor will still host. Note: This is Thursday, but it is the Thursday before we observe Veteran’s Day. We are hopeful most will be able to attend.

400 volunteers, 3000 hours

Climate Action Now Party
In 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) created the largest funding for solutions to the climate crisis in history. Even though Floridians helped fund the IRA, Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed over $350 million, which would have funded solutions. This refusal to take federal dollars negatively impacts all people in Florida, but particularly low-wealth, underserved communities in the state.
Join an extraordinary panel on Sept. 13, 7 p.m. EDT by Zoom, and then TAKE ACTION on the free Climate Action Now App to address the Governor’s egregious blockading of federal dollars.
The Sound of Success
On Aug. 23, the City of Tallahassee adopted a 100% Clean Energy Plan.
The plan will outline how the city will transition to 100% renewable energy for all municipal operations by 2035 and communitywide by 2050, with the goal being to improve air quality, have healthier
residents, and create green jobs.
“Part of our mission is to educate, engage, and empower Floridians to take action and achieve a just transition to clean energy,” said ReThink Energy Florida Campaigns Director Brian Lee. “We just celebrated our 13th year and to have the support of the City of Tallahassee lets us know we are not fighting alone, we are in this together. It’s reassuring and comforting.”
