January 2026 Newsletter

In 2010, we started ReThink Energy Florida in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster – a catastrophe that forever changed the Gulf. That spill not only harmed wildlife and fragile ecosystems, but it disrupted entire communities.
15 years later, the lesson should be clear. Yet today, our coasts once again face serious risk. Nearly 80 million acres of public waters are being opened to new offshore oil and gas drilling, putting Florida back in harm’s way.
We know what offshore drilling brings. History has shown us that where they drill, they spill. And when spills happen, communities pay the price through lost jobs, damaged industries, and long-term environmental harm that can take decades to heal.
That is why ReThink Energy Florida continues to fight for a safer, cleaner future – one that protects our coasts, empowers local communities, and advances the transition to renewable energy. Your support helps us fight for Florida’s coasts and communities.
Public comments to the Department of the Interior regarding the drilling plan are open until Friday, January 23, 2026.
Have your voice heard and urge for no new leases!
When you donate to ReThink, you invest in climate solutions:
- $100 = Support grassroots offshore drilling advocacy
- $250 = Power Florida policy action and legislative engagement

We cannot do this work without you. Donate today to power a just, resilient future.
