Energy Camp 2021 FAQ
Energy Camp is officially less than two weeks away! With the deadline to sign up quickly approaching (Monday, June 12th), we wanted to answer some frequently asked questions!
Question: What is Energy Camp?
Answer: Energy Camp is an environmental summer camp designed to teach children the impact of fossil fuels, renewable energy options, and the fundamental skills that will be required as we decrease our energy use and environmental impact.
Question: What will Campers do at camp?
Answer: Campers will have a wide variety of learning opportunities. First, counselors will provide a basic foundation of concepts. From there, campers will do hands-on experimental activities (like using solar ovens, creating their own solar bugs), hear from guest speakers, and even go on local field trips!
Question: Who can attend?
Answer: Rising third-sixth graders
Question: How much does the camp cost?
Answer: Camp is $160 with full and partial scholarships available
Question: When is camp?
Answer: Energy Camp is July 19-23 from 9am-4:30pm all in-person. We have before-camp available from 7:30 to 9, and after-camp available from 4:30 to 5:30.
Question: Where is camp?
Answer: Camp will be held at (not sponsored by) United Church in Tallahassee (1834 Mahan Dr). Some mornings we will have field trips, but even on those days we will still meet at United Church.
Question: What measures are being put in place to protect campers against Coronavirus?
Answer: All campers and camp staff will be required to wear face masks during the entirety of camp. Our main camp staff is fully vaccinated. Social distancing measures will also be put in place and we have taken covid into account when planning activities and lessons.
Question: Do campers have to attend the full day?
Answer: No. Parents can choose whether they would like their child to attend mornings only, afternoons only, or both.
Question: When is the deadline to sign up?
Answer: The deadline to sign up is Monday, July 12th.
