Reclaiming Florida’s Future 2020 was a Success!

Rethink Energy hosted the Reclaiming Florida’s Future Event on February 6th, 2020. To prepare for legislative meetings, an advocacy day training was available for volunteers the night before to learn more about the bills that they would be advocating for. Floridians from all over the state were transported to the Florida Capitol to speak to lawmakers about how important clean energy, clean air, and clean water is. Our highly anticipated rally began with singing songs that caught the attention of all curious bystanders while guest speakers of all ages and backgrounds kicked off the rally in front of attendees. The rally gave the speakers the platform to voice their fight for issues such as the transition to renewable energy in Florida K-12 schools, constructing rules and training on heat illness prevention for employers and the support of the “Fracking Ban” bills. 

Reminding Governor Desantis to keep his promise, attendees of the event delivered promissory notes before heading to their legislative meetings. Ending the day, our Youth Caucus met with other youth across the state of Florida to discuss the future of the sustainable environment movement. We want to thank all our volunteers, speakers and attendees who came out and helped to make our Reclaiming Florida’s Future event a success. We hope to see everyone at our future events!
