Energy Camp: A Hands-On STEM Experience for Young Environmental Leaders
Energy Camp, our annual children’s outreach program, is led by a dedicated team of interns and volunteers and is designed for children in grades 3-6. With a curriculum centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), this highly interactive camp emphasizes a broad understanding of energy-related environmental issues, including agriculture, urban planning, water quality, and waste impact.
At Energy Camp, kids engage in hands-on activities that combine STEM and creativity, such as making solar ovens, fixing bikes, and constructing landfill liners. They also gain valuable knowledge from guest speakers who present interactive sessions on critical environmental topics. Field trips are a major highlight, giving campers real-world insights into sustainability by visiting urban farms, wastewater treatment plants, and local parks.
This camp is an excellent opportunity for children to explore the impact of fossil fuel usage and the importance of renewable energy solutions. By applying what they learn in a dynamic and supportive environment, campers develop fundamental skills to solve energy challenges and reduce their environmental impact.
