On February 20, 2019, the Tallahassee City Commission adopted a resolution that established the goal of transitioning the community to 100% clean, renewable energy as soon as possible but no later than 2050. The goal for municipal operations would be achieved by 2035. The city is currently expanding a solar farm near the Tallahassee International Airport as part of the overall electric generation system.
The next steps for Tally100 include raising awareness for the need to reduce carbon emissions and showing how local governments and businesses can lead the way toward developing a fair and equitable climate change action plan for the whole community. Tally100 is scheduling public information sessions and encourages everyone to participate.
Tally 100% Together is an alliance of community leaders and groups that are guiding Tallahassee to move to a just and renewable energy future. See www.facebook.com/Tally100Together to learn more.
