Supporters Flock to the Capitol to Reclaim Florida's Future

Yesterday, March 22nd, constituents from across the state gathered at the Capitol to make their voices heard. People arrived in buses, vans, and carpools to stand together for a statewide fracking ban and instead promote clean, renewable energy to power our state.

Participants joined in a morning rally with several speakers including, State Senator Dana Young, State Senator Jack Latvala, State Senator Gary Farmer, State Representative Heather Fitzenhagen, Dr. Burt Eno, President of the Rainbow River Conservation, Inc., Clifford Mitchem with CREW-Clean Renewable Energy Worldwide, and even Claire Encinosa, a fifth-grader from Cornerstone Learning Community. The call to action was clear, protecting our environment is a non-partisan issue that requires immediate action!

The rally was followed by a delicious lunch where participants were able to learn about the Sabal Trail Pipeline, as well as be entertained by the Raging Grannies. Throughout the day, constituents had the opportunity to speak with their elected officials about clean energy and environmental policies currently moving through the Legislature. Showing up and educating Legislators and their staff about these important issues is what advocacy is all about.

Reclaiming Florida’s Future was made possible by YOU and some key organizations, including ReThink Energy Florida, Food & Water Watch, Sierra Club Florida, Floridians Against Fracking, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Florida Conservation Voters, Progress for All, Urban Paradise Guild, Florida Student Power Network and many others. Thank you from all of us at ReThink Energy Florida for joining us in support of our mission and helping to people-power our movement!
