Energy Whiz Olympics

ReThink Energy Florida invites and encourages school classrooms and interested individuals to participate in Regional EnergyWhiz Olympics Expo on February 4th, 2017. This event is a regional expo connected with the Energy Whiz Olympics conducted by the Florida Energy Center at the University of Central Florida. Energy Whiz is a forum for students to demonstrate their STEM knowledge and skills as they relate to energy topics—such as solar thermal, photovoltaics (PV) and hydrogen technology—through friendly competition.

Junior Solar Sprints (Grades 3-8)

In this competition, students will design and race model solar powered cars with teams of 2-4. Elementary and Middle School students will be competing separately. Medals will be awarded for race time, innovation in design, and best design.

Solar Cook-Off (Grades 3-12)

In this competition, students will design a solar cooker and develop a recipe to cook in it with teams of 2-6. Elementary, Middle, and High School students will be competing separately. Medals will be awarded for cooker design, culinary (recipe & taste) and WOW! -an award for the most creative overall.
