Energy Ball 2017 Wrap Up

We at ReThink Energy Florida would like to extend a huge Thank You to all of our friends who showed their support and attendance at this year’s Energy Ball! From liking our Facebook posts, sharing the event, donating items or money, and showing up to dance all night, you helped make Energy Ball 2017 one our most successful events to date!

Energy Ball was not only a great fundraising opportunity for our organization, but it was also a great party in its own right! Energy Ball boasted the vivacious music stylings from some awesome local bands, including Acme Rhythm and Blues, Pure Platinum, and Jim Crozier with Ben Banks and Don Austin! We enjoyed awesome catering from Tastebudz and food donations from Masa Sushi, Jim and Milts, Bonefish Grill, Which Wich, and the Capital City Women’s Club! We also hosted the largest silent auctions we’ve ever had at our Energy Ball since its launch six years ago! It was an extremely fun evening and we are so thankful for our the wonderful Tallahassee community for making this event possible!

Special thanks to all of our amazing sponsors and donors who made Energy Ball 2017 possible! We couldn't have made this great event happen without your generous contributions.

As you may already know, Energy Ball is one of our biggest annual events — and seems to grow bigger and better each and every year! Energy Ball raises funds to help support our work year-round on important campaigns from pursuing a statewide ban on fracking, to advancing the state of solar in Florida, opposing additional oil drilling leases in the gulf, and fighting the dangerous Sabal Trail Pipeline

Along with these campaigns, Energy Ball helps provide support and scholarships for our Summer Energy Camps, held each year for rising 3rd-6th graders in the greater Tallahassee community which provides educational opportunities within the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines. Campers will learn to engage in hands-on experiential activities relating to renewable energy solutions, depletion of fossil fuels, and climate change. This scholarship program is ReThink Energy Florida’s longest sustained campaign in assisting marginalized communities. The immense support we received at our Energy Ball will directly ensure that no child will be unable to attend these camps due to financial hardship! (The application window closes on July 3rd, so be sure to get them in before you prep for your 4th of July barbecues!)

Here are some photos from the Energy Ball! Special thanks to our Communications Coordinator Susie Garcia for the awesome Snapchat filter and to Bob O'Lary for the photos he took throughout the night!:

Thank you for your contributions to this community. Keep up the good work and we hope to see you next year!
