Replacing fossil fuel sources with renewable energy reduces the carbon footprint that contributes to the climate crisis. A United Nations report warns that substantial reductions in carbon emissions are necessary to mitigate the severe effects of climate change. These include rising sea levels, loss of agricultural productivity, food shortages, the spread of deadly diseases, and extreme weather events such as more intense droughts, heat waves, and hurricanes.
Because of the inaction at the federal and often state levels, communities are coming together to move to renewable energy at the local level. ReThink Energy Florida contributes to this through our Carbon Free Communities initiative.
