A new FLAWED fracking bill (PCB 19-01)(drafted on behalf of an entire Committee, not sponsored by any legislator) is scheduled to be heard this Wed, Feb 13 at 10am, in front of the HOUSE Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee. The FLAW is that the bill DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FULL DEFINITION OF FRACKING and MUST HAVE THE DEFINITION AMENDED! If it passes as-is, it will be detrimental to the health of all Floridians.
CALL #1: Please call COMMITTEE CHAIR CLEMONS at 866-772-3843 and urge him to amend the proposed committee bill with the right definition of fracking--the one included in Representative Fitzenhagan’s HB 239.
CALL #2: Please Call Speaker Oliva at (850) 717-5110 and urge him to vocalize his support for the full definition of fracking contained in Representative Heather Fitzenhagan’s true ban bill, HB 239.
CALL #3: In the SENATE, also on Feb 13, Senator Montford’s fracking ban bill (SB 314) will be heard before the Senate Environmental and Natural Resources Committee. Passing this bill--which has a good definition of fracking--is crucial to defending our ban in the Senate and stopping the flawed bill in the House. Please help us get a strong YES vote by doing the following:
1. If you live in DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Highlands, Okeechobee, Charlotte, Lee, or Polk County, please call Senator Ben Albritton at 850-487-5026 and ask him to vote YES on Senator Montford’s fracking ban bill.
2. If you live in Northern Indian River or the Southern Brevard County, please call Senator Debbie Mayfield at 850-487-5017 and ask her to vote YES on Senator Montford’s fracking ban bill.
3. If you live in Southern Volusia County or Northern Brevard County, please call Senator Tom Wright at 850-487-5014 and ask him to vote YES on Senator Montford’s fracking ban bill.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE CALLS AND SHARING WITH OTHER FLORIDIANS!
